I was going to call this "Eating one meal of vegetables a day" but...

So, new years resolutions aside and all the winter excuses as to why we don't exercise, I still haven't lost any weight this year. Why not? Because I haven't tried for more than a few days at a time. Worthless.  Except I have been hitting the kettlebells at the gym! Yes!

So, I thought, lets try this. One meal a day will be all vegetables, or close to it. That should work. Do a little digging. Has anyone else tried this? Google doesn't seem to produce any meaningful results. Except, this story:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/food/article-1349960/5-day-fruit-vegetables-myth-claims-nutrition-expert.html

Which contradicts my first thought completely. I know at heart that a high fat, higher protein diet is the best. Fiber is good. But vegetables are overrated? Yes. Seems so. Time to go back to the harder, but better plan I always aim for but frequently miss. Anyone seen the short film Cereal killers? or the next one he has out? Yep. Time to rewatch that.

How should this look?

Ideas welcome.

These are the foods I'm going to stock up on, with the hopes of creatively making them into meals. Most are just in the freezer already!

Avocados
Nuts
Chia Seeds
Meat
Lard, butter, olive oil, coconut oil!
Low carb veggies (broccoli, green beans, cauliflower, peppers, some onions----good god I'm sick of seeing cauliflower crafted into crazy fake foods on pinterest, and diet boards)
Macadamia nuts (need to find a source)
Protein powder -smoothies
Lemons (huh? yep.)
what else?

Oh, and the wheatgrass from the St. Patty's Party is soon to be juiced. Yep. Gonna do it!

Ok, here we go!

P.S. Notice beer is not on this list? dammit. These will be though! Have to try them.

Less than one month to our St. Patrick's Day Party!

Dearest friends, family and other fellow (or honorary), Irishmen and Women

PJ and Lisa are once again going to celebrate the love of all things Irish, and some American too, at our home in Cottage Grove.

RSVP: Please let us know if you can make it, via text, email, on Facebook or otherwise, in person etc.  We don't want to run out of delicious corned beef and cabbage brats before you arrive, our special custom order delights from Bongard's. You can't get these anywhere else!

The bonfire will be blazing and the beer will be cold.

Be sure to wear your green otherwise...watch out. Why you ask?
Check out this fun info I found:

Pinch me, I’m Irish
Forgot to wear green on St. Patty’s Day? Don’t be surprised if you get pinched. No surprise, it’s an entirely American tradition that probably started in the early 1700s. St. Patrick’s revelers thought wearing green made one invisible to leprechauns, fairy creatures who would pinch anyone they could see (anyone not wearing green). People began pinching those who didn’t wear green as a reminder that leprechauns would sneak up and pinch green-abstainers.

2015

This is a new place. A new day. A new time. Have you been drawn to simplify your life, your home, your junk? To try to find who you are in the midst of chaos requires getting rid of the chaos you can. Here you go! Your road map to simplicity lies below. If you want to take a ride on that road, just buckle up. I recommend a journal rather than a car though.

Here's the list of things I would share with anyone who stumbles across this page:

A blog to read, and some great people to get online books from, and to consider following.

http://zenhabits.net/

http://www.theminimalists.com/

http://bemorewithless.com/

What you will notice about them is there is a distinct lack of clutter, excess advertising, and just plain crap on these sites. They're to the point, useful, and generally add to life in a positive way.

Enjoy.
